Finding Your Reiki Community
Updated: Aug 8
By Kristi L., Reiki Master & Guest Writer

I began Reiki classes in February 2022 and became a Reiki Master in 2024. One of the greatest learning tools in my Reiki journey has been reaching out and finding community. Although I do enjoy and embrace solitude from time to time, I certainly have experienced great growth by getting out of my comfort zone and into a Reiki community. I've found that as I've embraced community, I've experienced and learned new modalities of healing and have met incredibly interesting people! And thanks to my many new experiences, I've learned to better understand holistic wellness. A community connection with like-minded people will expand your knowledge and can help you be consistent with your own self-care; I found my community to be a safe place to ask questions and discuss alternative healing modalities.
How to Start
There are multiple ways to seek out Reiki people no matter what your level of training might be! If you're a client, ask your Reiki Practitioner for suggestions. She may offer different opportunities for gatherings. If she doesn't currently offer other activities (or an activity that interests you), ask if she'd be interested in hosting a gathering and she may just consider it!
As you come across local businesses such as artists, crystal shops, metaphysical shops, or different healing modalities, look for or ask about Reiki. Many creators list their credentials or list their products as “Reiki infused,”meaning they enhanced the item with the universal life force energy of Reiki, adding healing, positive intentions, and love. Don't be shy about reaching out to these local artists and creators who work with Reiki!
Another option is to search social media for local activities mentioning Reiki. There are many online groups, meetup events, and professional organizations that can offer community, like The International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) at reiki.org.
Also, Mother Nature is an incredible community. William Lee Rand, the founder and President of ICRT has the following suggestion: “Share Reiki with a cloud, a tree, a flower, the blue sky, a mountain or a river, or the ocean and each of these things will share its divinity with you and allow you to feel its peace and joy.”
When you decide to take your first Reiki class, your teacher will no doubt offer opportunities, other classes, and workshops. For example, I've attended a refresher class, vision board workshop, and outdoor gatherings like a bonfire in Autumn. Talk to the other students in class and learn what they're interested in. Practice your skills with each other or trade services and/or products. Share information, experiences, and articles you've found.
There's a common goal to go from isolated practice to connection and support! I've had the opportunity to exchange Reiki with an old friend who I reconnected with in a refresher class. She gave me Reiki and introduced me to frequency healing. Our serendipitous reconnection through Reiki has truly enhanced our friendship!
Reiki Shares
Find a Reiki Share! A Reiki Share is a gathering for Reiki Practitioners to meet each other and give/receive energy healing, meditate, share ideas, and socialize. Your Reiki Practitioner is your first line to help you connect with all things Reiki. If you can't find an existing Reiki share, host your own gathering at your home, a private room in a local coffee shop, or any local community space. Make it accessible to all levels, set an intention for the time, exchange treatments, and practice. Ask questions and share ideas. You will most likely leave more informed and with new friends!
The Benefits of a Reiki Community
The benefits of a Reiki community are many, including enhanced skills, knowledge, support from like-minded people, growth, and fun! By broadening my circle, I've experienced new things and have continued to learn and evolve not only as a Practitioner of Reiki, but also as a person.
