I became a Reiki Master in June 2024 in the Usui lineage of Holy FireⓇ Reiki. When I first began my Reiki journey through classes, I did not think I would ever want to become a Reiki Master; at that time, I felt levels 1 & 2 were more than enough for my needs. Later, I gradually felt called to move forward in my training. For me, it unfolded as a natural but strong progression, and today, I am so grateful I obtained my Reiki Master level. (You can read more about my Reiki Level 1 & 2 journey here)
I took the Holy FireⓇ Reiki Master class with my sister and found it to be a very personal and sacred experience. I expected the 3-day class to be more of a technical class, with more focus on the logistics of a Reiki session and the precision of hand placements, but it was not that at all. It surpassed my expectations and was instead a deep, profound, spiritual, and sacred experience. Lyndy was a patient, loving teacher who answered all my questions. By the last day, I felt more confident than ever! I feel I have received an extraordinary, sacred gift and I am immensely grateful.
What You Can Expect
Prerequisites for the Holy FireⓇ Reiki Master class include having taken Reiki Levels 1 and 2 (any lineage), being able to draw the three symbols from Reiki 2 from memory, and having six months of active practice at Level 2. In the three days of class, you will learn and experience an immense amount of information! You will learn two more symbols, for a total of five in the Holy FireⓇ Reiki system. In addition, you will have three Experiences, which are specific to Holy FireⓇ Reiki. These are guided meditation opportunities to heal yourself and prepare yourself for the Reiki Master level. The Experiences help you in the surrender for the receiving of the Reiki Master energy. I found them to be very powerful!
As a Reiki Master, you are not required to go on to teach Reiki; however, you will still be given instruction on how to teach Reiki in-person and virtually, give Placements, and conduct Experiences and Ignitions to new students and yourself. You will also learn about a Reiki crystal grid, how to make it and use it. There is hands-on practice after you receive the new Placement, which is always a magical opportunity to actually feel the difference in the energy you are channeling. At the end of three exciting and personally healing days, you will receive the Reiki Master designation.
In class, you will discuss what it means to be a “Reiki Master,” putting your ego aside and remembering that “we don’t master Reiki, we allow Reiki to master us.” This quote is about spiritual surrender and foregoing control, knowing that the universal life force Reiki energy is divine, conscious, and knows better than we what to heal and how.
At different points, Lyndy gave us ample opportunity to ask questions and after each Experience, Ignition, and Placement we were given the opportunity to share what we experienced. Sharing is optional, but I found it fascinating. I saw it as a chance to build a bond with other students, as well as the instructor.
What to Consider About Becoming a Reiki Master
Perhaps you wonder why you should go the extra level to become a Reiki Master. It is deeply personal for each person. Pam Allen LeBlanc, Reiki Master and Teacher with International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT), says, “And if you become a Reiki practitioner, even if you never do one bit of Reiki on anyone, you’ve changed your energetic blueprint….Just your being in a space brings light which overcomes darkness every time.”
You can absolutely start your own Reiki business, should you feel called. The ICRT has wonderful support tools and Lyndy was profoundly supportive as I started my own business. I set up a quiet and relaxing room in which to give Reiki and had several clients. I was excited about Reiki and helping others; however, I quickly realized there was something blocking me from moving forward fully into Reiki entrepreneurship. It took me some time to realize that I was feeling like I was wasting the Reiki knowledge by not “doing” something with it. I had started my Reiki business because I felt I owed it to the energy to be productive with it. I discussed this with my sister, who had taken the Reiki Master class with me. She said: “That’s like you saying you're wasting your breath.” What wise words!
Reiki Master training has continued to enhance my life as I have learned to surrender to it. It is part of my everyday life and the energy goes where it is most needed. The benefits of Holy FireⓇ Reiki are infinite! Reiki awakens a deep sense of peace, compassion, and promotes healing. Reiki releases worry and replaces it with a feeling of safety. It is a superpower that constantly flows through you. I decided to shift from a business mindset to just enjoying the Reiki energy. This has been an issue that I have struggled with much of my life and the experience gave me the permission and understanding that I can learn and experience things simply for the pure joy of it.
The Benefits of Becoming a Reiki Master
The Holy FireⓇ Reiki benefits in so many ways. It heals relationships. It provides guidance that is accessible for every level of life experience.
